What's The Budget?
Education in Bangalore may become a costly affair depending upon which course or college you choose. It is always better to make a budget before you start on the journey.
The expenses arise under the following heads:
This is the most important part of your budget. Though the average tuition fee per year is about Rs. 1, 37, 500, the final amount charged by the college can vary wildly from college to college.
The colleges also charge various other fees under these heads: admission fees, regulatory fees, development fee, trust fee and several others. These expense are sometimes overlooked and results in making a wrong budget as these expense can range from a few thousands to lakhs. Check Education loan section for eligibility.

Bangalore college divisions
Bangalore engineering colleges may be divided under three heads:
Expensive Colleges - These colleges are normally of the top rank in their respective fields. As more students want to get into these colleges, the more expensive they become.
Mid-tier Colleges - Most of the Karnataka colleges fall under this category. They can be very affordable for outstation candidates.
Budget Colleges - The remaining colleges fall under this category. But the students should be careful about taking admission in these colleges as low cost may be because they are relatively new and may lack proper infrastructure as compared to other colleges. The students also take care to see they have the proper approval.
HOSTEL / BOARDING EXPENSES
The cost of living may vary according to the living standards of a student. Normally, hostel charges vary from Rs 2,500 to Rs 8,000 per month. If the student wants to stay as a paying guest the rates may go up to Rs 10,000 or more, food costs included. The students may also rent apartments and stay with a group of friends leading to lower expenses.
