What is this course?
Respiratory Care Technology is an allied medical course. A Respiratory Care Technician diagnose, monitor and treat patients with breathing problems. They also obtain and analyze blood gas samples, measure lung function and study sleep patterns. These procedures are vital in assessing the patients’ overall lung health, development and extent of disease progression, and the implementation of a medical care plan. For people suffering from respiratory problems, these technicians are messiah. |
Eligibility - For admission into bachelor's degree a student must have passed 10+2 exam with biology, chemistry and physics. For entrance into most colleges, a student will also have to appear for a competitive entrance exam. The tenure of the course is 3½ years including a six-month internship period as well. The course is affiliated to Ragiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences -- a government university. It is pretty hard to get in one of the colleges due to very less number of seats and only only 3 colleges in Bangalore offering the course.
